ITP Regulated Return question.

I was curious on whether or not you guys that have this upgrade would consider it worth the money? I would be doing the fuel bowl delete option and I already have the pre-pump kit of theirs otw. I am getting a DP tuner F6 in the next payday so maybe I should do the RR first? Whats your guys oppinion? Also I tow a lot and want good fuel mileage which I have heard the RR will net better fuel mileage also. Any help would be appreciated.

It's not worth the money by any means unless you are flowing some serious fuel, however if you are going to do a regulated return setup, it's one of the nicest out there! Make sure you get an airdog too, those two and a fuelab prodigy are on my wish list!

I put this on my 99 7.3 and just yesterday finished putting one on a friends 99 7.3 F-350 cew cab. They are very proud of them but they do work great! I install a fuel pressure gauge inside the cab so I can see at all times the fuel pressure. The #8 cylinder does not starve for fuel any more as with stock systems. As for fuel mileage....well I don't care since I make 90% of my fuel from used cooking fryer oil. So it cost me around .50 per gallon. The ITP kit is nice but not very easy to put in and I've done 2. Take your time and go slow.

Is the airdog needed even though I have the ITP filter setup with the pre-pump?

Well, from what I was told by "Air Dog" thier pump won't pump up to high pressures needed by the 7.3 I have used both the Air Dog and the FASS pump and found the FASS to be a better pump that can produce pressures up to 125 PSI, even pumping hot WVO. If the ITP pre-pump can keep the pressure up and keep it there your good. The most important thing is filteration! Make sure anything you put into your fuel tank is filtered before it goes into the ITP block.

Personally I thought it was one of the best for the money modifications I did to my truck. Well ok maybe 3rd in line behind the in-tank mods and the DPTuner. But when I went to the RR return system (I built my own) it seriously quieted down my motor especially at idle and I found that it stayed with a long pull a lot better then it did with the dead head system that is factory (which keeps hot fuel in the heads vs running cooler fuel and less air with the RR system)

I have to agree with this! I also did the ITP regulated return with the fuel bowl delete. The truck runs quiet and all injectors get all the fuel they need. The install isn't for a novice, its involved and can be a pain in the rectum. I did an Airdog at the same time so it was a full days work.

BTW, the Airdog is designed to be used with a high pressure pump ,such as a stock one, dual stock pumps, Prodigy, A1000 etc. The FASS is a high pressure pump and lift pump all in one

Yes, Your right! And the FASS will pump more viscious fluids, like sub zero diesel, WVO, SVO with no problems. I like mine.

Has anyone honestly noticed any MPG gains with Regulated Return though?

As stated above, the benefits of ITP's reg return kit is to increase the fuel flow through the heads by eliminating the stock check valves, eliminating starvation of the #8 cylinder, and removing any remaining air in the fuel system.

I did this kit after upgrading the injectors, didn't notice any MPG increase but definitely a quieter idle and no drop on the fuel pressure gauge at WOT. A good investment/injector insurance policy IMO.

Would the CCK fuel crossover give you almost the same benefits of a regulated return system without paying the high price? What other real benefits does the regulated return have over just doing the CCK?

Cross Over

The thing is the crossover does nothing to regulate the fuel pressure, your stuck the the 55 PSI or if you add a spacer behind the stock spring on the stock pressure regulator you might get 65 PSI. With the ITP deleat kit with the regulator you can adjust it to what ever you want. That's the advantage....at a price!!!! Plus you will get equal pressure at the same flow rate to each head.
