explorer problem

my gf has a 05 explorer and at a light tonight and it just started sputtering and running rough, and the service engine light is flashing. i have not yet looked at it yet tonight. but it just came out of the blue. i am just curious as to what to look at tomorrow morn.

Instead of starting a guessing game, go get the codes read, then report back.

it gave a p0302 code. a misfire on cylinder 2.

Check for spark. Pull the plug, what's it look like? Gap? What condition are the plugs/wires in?

Start with the obvious stuff.

You can also try switching the #2 wire with another one and see if the problem moves. If it does, then you have a bad wire.

Just back, seems you guys are on it. This is a good, easy cheap test to start with. On to the other steps after a new code check.
