Just wondering if anyone has the bilstein steering damper. my truck always shakes pretty bad when hitting a bump in the road especially when going over a bridge on the highway. they arent to smooth here in NY. It has done this ever since i got the truck new back in 05. By the way, my pickup is a 06 f-250 4x4. i just ordered bilstein 5100 series shocks to go all the way around and was thinking about getting their steering damper as well.
what size tire? Stock steering stabilizer is not too good. I converted over the dual steering stabilizers, skyjacker. So I think anything aftermarket would be more than what it came with. If you are running any size bigger that what it came with I would suggest a dual setup.

Bilstein used to make a damper, but they don't any more. I hear they may start to again in a year or so, but for now Bilstein doesn't make one for the OEM damper.
Here is a dual stabilizer kit from Top Gun Customz using the Bilstein 5100 shocks for $289.95. You can get the bracket in either black or silver finish.
Bilstein has one listed on their site for the 05-07's but it isn't for sale yet.
Someone else mentioned that they talked to Bilstein directly and they thought that the stabilizer would be available for sale towards the end of the summer.

The 5100 is not meant to be used as a damper. It is meant to be used as a vertical shock. Although they are similar, steering dampers (stabilizers) are designed to operate horizontally. I don't remember exactly why (I want to say it has something to do with the valving and preventing the oil in the cylinder from foaming), but I do know that it was recommended that I buy a damper that was specifically designed to operate as one (the shock I was looking at was cheaper than the damper).
just yesterday i put a rancho factory replacement stabilizer on and also a pro comp dual set up. you may think it is overkill, but it isn't. the shock diameter on the pro comps are smaller than that of a skyjacker or rancho dual setup. i have no oscillation over bumps now.
