I am wondering if anyone has done the Royal Purple flush
engine, transmission, diff (s), and t-case (if applicable)
and what you've thought or noticed a smoother drivetrain, anything like that.
Its got me thinking about it after seeing a re-run of it on Trucks! and the Lil Red Wagon.
I have used Royal Purple (5w30) in my Ford v6's (3.0 & 4.0) it has performed beautifully. Great MPG, cold startup immediately, engine turns over effortlessly, smooth idle, great acceleration - no leaks or oil consumption. I'd highly recommend Royal Purple oil as well as their Max-Life ATF.
I also use and like Chevron ATF, great service and never a transmission problem.
Their Purple Ice is also good in the cooling system, I use a 30% coolant / 70% distilled water mix, with RP Purple Ice. I flush cooling system and heater core once a year regardless.
110 degree summer heat, freeway driving, stop and go traffic, AC on blowing ice cold, engine temp always at normal, never runs hot.
Good stuff. However, always remember, the majority of engines running hot in hot summer heat are actually caused by a transmission that is running too hot. Many people think it's engine related (unless it is low on coolant, ect.) when the cause is actually via the transmission.
Power Steering Fluid, I use strictly RED LINE's PS, great stuff, and the only one I've found that quiets Fords normally whiney sounding PS systems / racks.
RP is ok. You'll have to try it for yourself to judge it. Some people like it and others like me can't justify the price vs. performance(UOA that is).
I will say that for tranny's and diff's however, I would recommend Amsoil ATF and Amsoil Severe Gear, both stellar products. IMO, this is where Amsoil really shines. Their motor oil however is quite pricey, so I don't use it.
We use RP in the race bike, which has a common engine and transmission oil supply. It works great on the track, but we use Shell Rotella T synthetic for the street bikes. Non-race conditions dont justify RP.
