Just completed a 2237.8 mile drive from northern WI. to Southern CA. Virtually all of the 2237.8 miles were done with a Jayco 25rks travel trailer in tow, with a trailer weight at just over 7k. The truck is an 08 f250 V10 with 4:10 gears.
The hand calculated miles for the trip. 8 mpg. Surprised it came out even since all hand calculations were to the 10th. Wished it were better, but the truck towed like a champ through lots of wind and some mountains.

I have a 2001 V10 with 3:73 gears that gets about 12MPG on average city or highway.
Seems to be the same loaded or not. But i dont pull loads as heavy as your travel trailer.
Looks like i have the same truck as you plus a 4x4..... we just came back from a 2100 mile trip (Amarillo- So Cal) pulling a 31' 5th wheel 8500lb at 65 mph. Average 8.4 mpg and yes there was wind!
8 MPG seems to be the magical number towing with these 3V V10's. We tow a 10k 5er and avg around the 8 over a 300 mile trip that we normally take 8 times a year.
2stepn - I was looking into a V10 gasser but I have a question. It looks like the average mileage for a V10 with a 4:10 gear pulling a trailer is 8 miles. It also seems that it can pull with no problem and has more horse power then the 5.4L gasser.
My question is how is the mileage (city & Hwy) when you are not pulling a trailer. I do not pull a trailer everytime so I was just curious. Again with the same spec that you have on your truck (V10 4:10 gear).
My V10 with 4:10 rear is in a duelly. For mixed driving, unloaded, I get 10 in the winter, and 11 in the summer, in Minnesota. However, we have 10% ethanol, and the twits are in the process of changing that to 20% ethanol, so I'll be losing another mpg when that happens.

Thanks
Empty average (hwy/city) 12 mpg
