Cold in Buffalo today so I haven't worked on the prop. valve, just taking in all the great input from Bigred, F.Hagen and all the others. Since I discovered the parking brake is locked up I decided to pull the brake drums and have a look. Wow, you have to pull the axle on the HD F-250 and of course the drum won't release even with the star wheel backed off as far as I can get it. What a pain, anybody got a torch!!
the drums should just slide off if its a sterling 10.25 without pulling the axles. my 86 f250 hd has the sterling. I thought all heavy duty's did? The Dana 60's needed the axles pulled. Also about the rear prop. valve, when i lifted my truck i never messed with it. It still seems to work fine, and apparently it can compensate for a small difference in frame/axle height.

Not seeing anything on the sterling axle, my cover is a 12 bolt pattern in a pear shape. Based on what I can find, it is a Ford 10.25 full floating axle which Chiltions says to pull the axel shaft. Hindsight, I agree with you on drum removal. The prop. valve will have to wait until I get a look at the brakes. Thanks for your input.
