Seized F250 Rear Brake Drums

Hello Everyone,

I just bought an F250 2WD Camper Special Auto with seized rear brakes.
I had it towed to my place and now the challenge is on.
When the tow truck hooked up to the front of my truck, I had him drag it a bit to hopefully free up the drums but to no luck.

How can the drums be that seized and basically my question is
"now what".
What are my options.
Any advise would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I think you pretty have two options. Cut the nails off on the backing plate that hold the shoes on so the shoes come off with the drum, or cut the drum off.

Isan't there a slot on the backing plate to access the adjuster? use a small screwdriver to push the arm away and back the adjuster off.

be careful when you remove the rear drums, some have to come off with the hub. just a thought, what if you remove the axles and then try to turn the tires

Yes back off the shoes and hit around the drums with a big hammer.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts on this.
I forgot to mention the truck year, it's a 1967.
I will try some of the methods described and see how it goes.
Thanks again.

Have a look at the parking brake cables and see if they are maybe siezed "on". If so then you may have to cut them close to the backplate. If all else fails you could try the suggestion from 77bigblock and grind the heads off the shoe retaining pins at the backplate and use a puller to pull the drums and shoes as one.
