'06 / '07 Questions

I haven't posted in about a year and even then most my posts were over in the 7.3L section, so thanks for having me

I've got the diesel bug again and have been thinking about trading in my new Tundra for an '06 or '07 6.0L. Really have 2 questions:

1) Do the '06/'07 6.0L have some of the same bugs my old '01 7.3L did:

- CPS (camshaft position sensor) issues
- Door lock actuators going out ~5 years
- Theft problems with the door latches being popped & truck being hotwired
- Slip-joint lube maintenance on the driveshaft

2) Any fatal flaws in the '06/'07 trucks?

Don't get me wrong, the "little" stuff in question #1 wouldn't be a deal-killer, just wanting to know what I'm getting into.

Thanks,

Craig

Don't think the CPS has that "issue" anymore, but yes to all the rest. Ford has had door switch problems (windows and locks) for many years, but they are easy to take care of. Hotwiring is not an issue if you are any good at all in splicing wire - make your own Ravelco switch.

If you are trading a Tundra for a F250/350. Wow, what an apples to oranges compairison.

If I could do the things I do with a Tundra I would keep the Tundra. But I need a truck that is built for grown-ups.

I have a buddy that has a Tundra. It drives and rides SOOO nice.

Use the search function. I did mine about 2-3 YEARS ago. I bought the CD Truck manual on ebay to look for the wiring. Maybe your local library has the manuals for your truck. There are a few places you can cut/splice to make your own Plugs. For instance, the fuel shutoff switch in the passenger side kick panel, but I (for obvious reasons) am NOT telling what wires I cut.

BTW, NOT underhood, underdash!
