I was unfamiliar with the F-150 lineup prior to 2009. I have a FX4, S/C which is a one of the models to choose from. I see a lot of 04-08 models that have the FX4 decal on them and wonder if this was model to choose from or a trim package to add to any of the model choices. What was the offering? If it was a add-on trim package, was it just the off-road suspension and skid plates? I know the E-locker is new for 2009.
for 04-08 it was its own model, and Ford has continued that into 09. It is still basically the same for 09 except for the new e-locker like you mentioned.
The FX4 was the perfect choice for me, I do a lot of heavy hauling and love off roading.
I don't care about the FX4 decal on the back I would still buy it.
The FX4 has thicker and heavier leaf springs than the STX, take your caliper and measure them and you'll see i'm right
Its stock with the 5.4 engine I want, skid plates and the interior power options I want.
The only 2 things i could do without on the FX4 is the keypad door lock and the pwr windows, (don't like power windows in the winter when they are covered with ice)

that is because the F-150 uses 2 different axles
8.8 axle if you have the 4.6 motor
9.75 axle if you have the 5.4 motor
STX has the 4.6 motor, so the axle is smaller and different leafs since it doesn't have the same load capability as a 9.75 axle truck
So is the FX4 limited slip yet when not having the E-LOCKER engaged or is just a one wheel wounder? If so was thinking of getting FX4 but if one wheel wonder than will have to pass on that Package?
