The yoke off the pinion might be different. that is about it.
In the 8.8's the older trucks had a u-bolt yoke, and the newer ones have a companion yoke where you can bolt up different types of brackets to hold u-joints.
If it has the different yoke, you'll have to set the drag when you put the new yoke in.
Otherwise, as far as I know. a 10.25 sterling is a 10.25 sterling.
Drag is the resistance on the pinion.
If that isn't set properly, you'll burn out bearings or screw your ring and pinion up.
By yoke, I mean the part on the rear end where you hook your drive shaft too.
So, look there and see if the one you are looking at buying is the same as yours. If it is not, and you don't know how to set the drag and such, I would avoid it unless you have somebody who can help you do it properly.
I'm pretty sure they both have 1350 yokes stock. The '89 does have a smaller pinion shaft, so the yoke is a different because the spline count & diameter is different but the U-joint end is the same.
No, I don't... would love to have one though. Chose Brown Falcon cause of a name for certain people in the military more commonly refered to as "Blue Falcons" or Buddy F***ers.
Just decided to use my last name. That's all. I'm not really one of those, just found it funny.
I had a 65 Falcon convertible that I bought at a garage sale and rebuilt it into a beautiful car. White with red interior. A guy looked me up that used to own it when he was 16 and even had the orginal keys. Took his first daughter home from the hospital with it and he went on & on. He made me an offer I couldn't refuse but I'm still kicking myself. Hence 'oldbird1965'!
