Hello. My name is uncle.stosh and I'm an addict.........
For some reason, this stuff just keeps falling on my lap. I really need to stop browsing Craigslist.
Just when I thought I was going to stop buying more projects, I came across this 85 Flareside and I could not help myself. It's pretty rough, but it's all there and I have PLENTY of parts to turn it into something nice.
I just can't decide if I should make it a trail only rig, or keep it streetable too.
In any case here is my latest $300 with title acquisition. 85 Flareside, 4X4, 300I6, NP435, NP208, 8.8" rear. Runs and drives (well it will once I clean out the sending unit).
It also came with a spare mint set of Flareside rear fenders. The guy backed it into a tree. That makes 3 full sets of rear fenders in my stock pile.
Dang! Your too far away. I cant find a Flareside bed for mine. Tommy said he had a line on one for me, but i havent heard anything back from him. Not too bad of a looking rig for $300. I think I would make it a dual purpose truck. Maybe a body lift and some 33's or maybe 36's. I think the 300 could handle that ok.
Does that mean you're going to keep the axle you just listed?
I also drug another truck home yesterday, but it's a dentside. I only paid $299 though for a 1974 F-250, 2wd 360/C6. Runs good, had to drive it 1.5 hours to get it home. Body is straight except for the front left corner and the tailgate. Interior and glass is good too. Maybe we should seek help?
your like me ,addicted to vehicles.better commit your self to the HENRY FORD CLINIC. i just got another truck to, 84 ford ranger with a 2.3, for free.i'll post pics when i get it home
Stosh that wheel chock brings back memories but I don't see an oil pan under it so you do owe me 50 push-ups..hahaha ( a lil military minded joke...for all those who don't get it the Army makes you put a chock and oil pan under everything when you park it)
"That sounds like our government, dont make any effort to fix the oil leak, just throw a drainpan under it! (Probably paid $1000 for the pan)"
No Greater Truth then that, Bashby.
I can tell you from personal experience that the 300 Six/NP435 combo is great for slow four-wheeling. Plus, yours is a shortbed, which makes everything easier when you're out on the trail.
On the other hand, I drive my truck between 55-65 mph on the Interstate because at best, it gets 14 mpg. Great work truck, not-so-great commuter. I've driven old 4x4 pickups my whole (and inexperienced) life, so that doesn't bother me, and perhaps you feel the same way.
Regardless, that's a sweet deal. I can't believe how beat up and rusty the cab is and yet the bed looks to be fantastic.
