Congrats. But please, tell the wife to come in the house. That just isn't right.

I was planning to read the manual last night but the previous owner has it and is sending it next week.
I did get a chance to sit down with the head diesel tech at the dealer and he answered a lot of questions that I was planning on posting here. How I just need to get the right answer for idling. Is it better to leave truck running when parked or turn it off. I have seen mixed reviews on here. I am not talking long idles but say I drop the wife in the store and I sit in the lot for 10 min.
You can get oil changes for around $100 - $120 around here, dealership price. Do it every 5k miles. For conventional oil, Walmart has Shell Rotela T and a new lower price of <$11 gal. You'll need 4 gallons the first time, but you'll only use 13.5 quarts, so next time you'll only need to buy 3 gals. Filter should be less than $20, a lot less if you catch the right opportunity. So ~$60 give or take.
The fuel pump/trap, called an HFCM, should be drained once a month. Filters should be changed every 10k miles. Filters on these are critical, so don't skimp. Dealer charges over $100 to do it, do it yourself for $35.
Keep idling to a minimum. These are not your grandaddys diesel. If you'll be in the store for 5 minutes, shut it down. There is more to it, like how cold is it outside, high idle, but to keep it simple for now, shut it down.
You'll pick up a lot more hanging around here, but we don't want to overload you on the first day.
Thanks for the help. I have been around FTE for a while in the 150 forums so now I will just have to scroll down a little more. I had read 10,000K miles or every other oil change to change fuel filters and drain HFCM but the manual online showed like 22K miles and I thought that was high. Thanks again everyone.

Thanks everyone. I picked the truck up last night.
Good for you. If you think you love it now, wait until you start towing something. That's when the Super Duty really shines. You'll feel the difference from your old truck right away.
For my $.02, I'll just say maintenance is key. Stay on top of it and watch your coolant levels.
Actually just reserved boom lift for a job next week so I will have about 8500lbs. behind me. I know that is small potatoes to some of you but I am stoked.
