Im looking at a truck for play that has a 10.25 out of 88 F-350. My question is, how do you tell it from a 10.5 ? It has 3.55s and needs 4.56 or 4.88s and will need to be sure. Thanks
BOM, or the tag, or the size of the ring gear. Measure it while you inspect the inside. You do plan on inspecting the inside right? Cant imagine buying an axle without openning it up.
I am also confident that the 10.5 will have a metric bolt pattern
Im looking at the whole truck, not just the rear. Its a beater and fell in love with it at first sight. Dana 60 front, built 351C, C-6 w/stall converter, etc. Will post pics later. I just didnt know the difference between the 2 axles. The bolt pattern is the old bolt pattern.
Yup, if the axle really was out of an 88 it was a 10.25. Doesnt really matter too much though, ive heard that they both use the same gears/install kits. MEANING, you buy gears... youre turning your 10.25 into a 10.5
