coolant

i was wondering how much coolant my 92 7.3 idi holds i just found out from the previous owner that when they did a coolant flush last fall they didnt put any water in just straight antifreeze they thought that it would be better for it because it sat all last winter luckally the block didnt crack i just need to know how much to drain out and replace with water thanks

coolant

I just did my 1993 the manual said around 7.25 gallons and i thinks thats with the overflow being filled. Also make sure to add sca's if it doesn't have them yet.

1993 f250 4x4 7.3 idi 125000

so i will drain about 3 gallons out and put water in and i am gonna put scas in thanks for your help

Be sure to test the level with a test strip, and at the right temp after adding the additive.

Without testing the level, there is no way to be sure there is proper level for protection.

for the scas? or coolant? you can get scas at napa any parts store should have it

i just told the guy at napa i needed the coolant additive for diesels to protect against cavitation if i remember right it is called napacool or something like that

I don't know on the 7.3's maybe somebody should investigate this, but on big diesels they claim having too much additives is as bad as not having any so we use the test strips and add accordingly.

I have wondered if using a water filter like we use on the big rigs would help.

I always buy my additives at the truck dealerships and the test strips comes with it.
