I'm looking for some tire recommendations for a 1994 F250 HD 4x4. Reg Cab pickup. I use it mainly to plow my driveway in the winter months and summer recreational driving on and off road (as we live on a dirt road). Let me know if you have any recommendations for a good all around tire.
My Kumho A/T KL78's have been surprisingly good. Much much better than my last set of BFG A/T KO's. The bonus is that the Kumho's were much cheaper too.
I've got 23K miles on this set so far, and they still look new. 50K+ should be super easy to reach. I had to yank off my last set of BFG's at 25K miles due to super fast wear and a split sidewall.
The Nitto Terra Grapplers are getting rave reviews. Ive always liked the BFG's but like the more available sizes with the Nitto's. I have spent quite a bit of time researching and am going with the Nitto's.
Based on your signature (1994) I expect you have 16" rims which provides many choices. One economical tire that really impressed me was the Hankook Dynamic RF04. It has a 5 row tread pattern somewhat like the Nitto Terra Grapplers mentioned above. It worked well in the snow and rode smoothly as well. It has a 10 ply rating but the actual construction is 6 heavy plies.
all around? i dunno, i've got general grabber AT2's on it now. not quite a thousand miles on 'em yet, and i don't have any reviews for how they handle yet in anything but highway. but they seem to be ok so far...
I just purchased a "used" F250 4x4 SD 7.3L TD Long Bed and it needs new tires.
It has some worn down 305/70R16 Toyo ATs on it now, but I'm worried some new 305s would rub. I also plan to tow and, based on what I've read, it would be better to go back to the OEM recommended 265s.
I've narrowed town my search to one of these 3 tires:
Hankook ATM RF10
Nitto Terra Grappler AT
Nitto Dura Grappler
The Nitto Dura has a more traditional tread designed towing and highway use with "some" off-road use, while the Hankook & Nitto Terra have more aggressive tread AT tread more suitable for "serious" off-road use. The Nitto Dura's probably make the most sense for my intended use, but the "tougher" appearance of the Hankook & Nitto Terra are hard to resist.
