low mpg imo

02 f350, auto, 4x4, 3.73 gears, muffler delete. i just cut out the muffler and figred it would help my mpg. ran a tank thorugh it and i got 13.4. this is aweful. i drive with OD off until 50mph. this tank i have just been driving with OD on the whole time. seems to help but i am not a fan of the way it drives this way now. also when i bought the truck it had an 80hp therminator chip in it from diesel dynamics (now edge i believe). should i take this out and see what it does? how in the hell are some of you getting 17+ mpg out of basically the same truck. the only thing i have left to do is make an air intake, but that wont gain me the mpg i am lookign for.

I am sitting right there with you, Well, actually lower. But my driving here in the city is every half mile there is darn light. The only thing that even slightly raised my milage was going to the napa 6637. Nothing, and I mean nothing has changed that YET, I am waiting for my first dozen tank fulls with the DP. I say dozen, because I am having a hardtime not put a gallon or two through the exhaust pipe at take off

I'm in the same boat, I've never been able to get into the high teens. But... I rarely check mileage since I have a 50+ gallon tank.

Those with the better mileage usually are not 4X4's. Where are you located? Winter fuel does not help either. In the summer, unloaded I get maybe 16 mpg at best.

I have a late 99 F-250, 4x4, ex-cab, sb, 3.73, 285 tires, no mods....yet. I got 15-16 going from upstate NY to New Holland PA in Dec, 08. I ran power service in the white bottle. Been checking my milage now just daily driving and getting 12-13. Still running power service. Waiting to see if it gets any better after the winter fuel is gone. Also going to run power service in the gray bottle (DK).

Now see on the highway I can get to around 16.. The best I have seen was 18.5 at 55mph accross the UP.. yeah, I did the speed limit, well close to it, it was really 58.5 mph, but the speedo said 55

i have not turned overdrive off yet once this tank and its seems to be doing better, i also have been keeping my highway speeds down 65-68, nothing more. i am at half a tank with 270 miles. i will see how it goes. i just dont love driving around own with od off, but like i said it seems to help. i am also considering removing the older chip as i see no difference in my 02 than my fathers bone stock 02. i think all it does is use fuel.
