Lights and fuses ?

I'm having a problem with my brake lights and turn signals. Every time I tow my boat, they work for most of the trip then pop a fuse. I'm using a 87 Bronco, with the a tow package. But I don't think the wiring harness was every used before. I also keep the headlights on. I know this something simple, but I've been brain dead on this.

Thanks
Joe

Hi Joe, my first thought is a grounding problem on your trailer. That is the easy part. The hard part is to trace down your problem, so look at the complete wiring and light sockets. The problem could also be in your connector.

On further review of this problem, I think Iv'e narrowed to the connector. Had a shop connect to exiting wiringg when I put on the hitch. Brake light blows after abouot 9-10 pumps, Both blinkers turn on at the same time, hazards don't work(probably fuse). Thank the Lord that the guy I bought from kept the factory wiring diagram for trailer hookup. I think they botched it up. Also this doesn't happen when trailer isn't hooked up. everything works fine. I'll be rewiring I think tomm. Using factory diagram. Already checked out the trailer grounds and bulbs. But will do that again in the light. It also might have screwed them up as the wiring harness also has wires for run for electric brake. I'm thinking they probaly got it all together and I,m not using an electric brake.
Thanks for the reply.
Joe
