My 2000 F-250 5.4 has been giving me trouble. The wheel bearing on the rearend driverside went and ever since i can't keep the axle seal in it from leaking. Guy said the housing is chewed up and the bearing isn't riding right. (or somethin like that)
So heres my question. i bought a utility box for the truck and it is way wider than the tires! Can i put a dually rearend in it? thanks.
Man, if you could find a Dana-80 rear, and find the spacers for the front end, you might get this done. I seen some single wheel flat beds that don't look bad. Try to find one that is right for your rig. I don't think you will get much out of the dually with the 5.4 you have.
yeah i know what you mean. The dually rearend is what i was thinking just to make it look decent. I have seen nice looking single wheels too but this damn thing is huge!! 94" across!
I gotta say though my 5.4 is a work horse! 210,000 miles original motor & Tranny and has towed a skid steer or dump trailer everyday for 85% of its life and when not towing she was Plowing! My Workers say its still running because i beat the **** out of it!

. That is why we have the Super Duty trucks. I know the 5.4 and 6.8 gets used like our 7.3 does. These trucks are made to work, and I think your workers are right.
