I really want to get my first Ford this year, a F150 Platinum, but I keep reading about all these people that say the tranny shifts hard, downshifts hard, doesn't seem right, computer adjusts to driving habits, take off battery cables for 15 minutes to re-set computer.
WTF gives, does ANYONE have a definative answer???
If this is a ongoing issue I may have to go back to GM, whats really interesting is I just finished reading my latest Motortrend & they are doing a long term test on a F150 Lariat 5.4 6 speed, they have completed 6391 miles on it, in their own words "a standard 6 speed auto handles shifting chores as deftly as a man servant pouring brandy"
Just FYI it has the 3.73 gearing, so can SOMEBODY give me the goods? I really love everything about this truck, driven it twice & found NO feling of it doing the things that all these threads are saying, so one last time WTF???

well I'd say that even if the thing gives you crap you can get an aftermarket tuner that will adjust shifting firmness as well as trans lockup and get it to your liking. Also one of these is known to be able to read trouble codes, give you a few HP, or even a MPG or 2. For the $300 that they cost I'd say it's worth thinking about anyway, and if you do run into the shift problems it'd make them easy to fix.
