Hey guys.. Going to change the oil in the little womans truck... Its a 2005 f150 cc 4x4... Could some one tell me how much oil it will take and does it take 5-30 or something ?? I know it takes a lot less oil than my powerstroke !

Dude...it should say recommended and maybe even the # of quarts on the engine oil cap under the hood. It will say for sure in the book and also...we'll need to know the engine it has to know what to tell you at all...You can even look it up on google i'm sure...I mean if you know how much yours takes I assume you change it yourself, so you do know how to find this info I imagine than no?....mine is 5.4L V8 F150 Scab and takes 7 qts of 5w20....

My 2007 F150 has the 5.4 motor, and i use 5W30 Mobil 1, and the Motorcraft ( OEM ) filter.
It takes 6.5 litres of oil....
Hope that helps.

Worth mentioning that as 99Trigger3_0 just posted, Ford recommends 5w20 oil, rather than 5w30.

Thanks man.... I appreciate it !! The only reason I asked in the first place is I know the manuals on this subject are sometimes quite a bit off.. I have my truck down to a science, so I figured someone that had one of these and changes his own oil would know best... YES I could have figured it out as to what the book says !!!!

Thanks again ! by the way... I'm in loops quite often.. maybe we'll run into you up there sometime !

Let me know when your in town.

By the way ya the book says to use 5w20, I always use 5w30....and my good friend who is a tech at a ford dealer uses it to and advised me to.
On a hot day if you work your truck, he says the 2w20 is too thin to protect as well as the 5w30 does.

I'm going to trust the engineers at ford over a tech at a dealership to know which oil is right for my engine.....If you search on here you'll find a few instances of guys blowing up engines after using the wrong oil......the truck absolutely should have 5w20 in it....
