On my 89 351w the PCV was making a weird noise so i bought another one and put it on there. I found that the old one was full of oil (well not technically "full" but there was alot.) and thought this was odd. I called advanced auto and thetech said that i have alot of blow-by and the motor may need a re ring for the pistons. Is this correct? Will this motor be going soon?
For this summer, im ordering a reman 351w long block and swapping in the Crane 444232 cam, GT40 heads, 1.7 RR, and long tubes. Thought this would be easier and cheaper than a rebuild on this motor.
Suggest removing the vac hose from the pcv and check it for being plugged with carbon. And check the fitting or tube it is connected to into the intake for carbon build up also. Had the same systems you had and others told me I had ring and or blow by problems. Cleaned out all the carbon out of hoses and tube and in fact where the fitting of the tube connected to the manifold it was plugged up there also. After a thorugh cleaning had no more problems with crankcase pressure/blow by

My dad took his '97 F250 with the 460 to a lube joint for an oil change once when it was only a few years. He figured one oil change at a lube joint was not going to hurt anything. To make a long story short, they overfilled by about 2 quarts, and it filled up the PCV valve with oil and shot a bunch of oil into the air cleaner. After draining out the extra oil, there have not been any problems since. Check for overfilling.
Check for carbon buildup, hopefully that's your problem, and you don't have bad rings. Good luck.

The truck just had an oil cahnge. Ive been driving it for the last two days, and i will check the valve when I get home ad see if the oils built up in there again.
I need to change the vacuum hose from the PVC to the back of the throttle, does it just pull out or is there some kind of nut or something..I can feel where it goes but cannot see anything at all...any help? It's on a 1994 F250 2 wheel dr 460 motor
