Replaced my fuel filter. Broke off one of the studs for that plastic cover that says "Powerstroke" on it. And now I think the fuel bowl is leaking somewhere. Still smelling diesel...
Installed the 6637 air filter.
Pulled the rear driveshaft to lube up the splines to get rid of the clunk.
Tip: DO NOT put a lot of grease on the splines. You don't need very much at all.
And even though I re-installed the driveshaft the same place it came off, now I have a vibration...
So basically I spent a bunch of time and money and the truck is worse off now than before I started...
Don't sweat the engine cover, it's a pain anyways.
Fuel leak is probably drain valve O-rings, or the gasket on the cap isn't installed right. Both easy fixes. Check out guzzle's site for info on both.
The Purolator one that comes with it's own top...
I followed the instructions to the letter. I'll check it again to be safe.
I'm thinking it's the o-rings like superduty4x4 said. It's been sitting a couple days now and I saw a drip over on the passenger side about where the drain tube is...
Sawbones, one of my cover studs broke (was rusted) so I pulled the assy. off and welded new flat tip screws inplace (after grinding the spot weld off the old ones). Got some one inch plastic spacers and used wing nuts to tighted the cover back down. I put a dab of RTV on the threads to stop the wing nuts from backing out. I like it.

I've had a tiny drip and the smell of diesel ever since I changed the fuel filter shortly after buying this rig last July.
This past weekend I installed the O-rings I got from dieselorings.com and now the smell and leak are both gone. Easy enough to change them. I removed the filter, moved the glow plug module out of the way, and was done in 1/2 hour.
My wife now has an appreciation for FTE.... she appreciates not having the diesel smell all the time.
