Correct me if i'm wrong.

yes, i'm a newbie. If this has been asked already, please bear with me.

I have an '04 6.0L PSD, F350 and I love it. However I'd like to get some extra mpg's out of it, by adding some minor mods. one mod that i'd like to do is the cold air intake, but after some thought, isn't the whole purpose of the intake to push denser air into the cylinders? Wouldn't the computer compensate for this by adding more fuel, which wouldn't allow for a mileage gain? If i'm out to lunch please let me know.

The stock air filter is good up to 500hp, a cold air intake can hurt your turbo, but anything that will make the motor beath better will give it better economy. For the best mpg gain i would go with a sct programer with custom tunes like spartans gen econ or max econ tunes.

...and if you are not using Power Service (in grey bottle), start. It increases your fuel cetane rating by a bit. And as a benefit, helps keep your EGR valve cleaner.... There are other additives that do the same thing...it's just that I use it as it is easily available...like at Wal-Mart.

Mike...how many miles on your truck?

As for the getting air into the motor...before you do anything, take the time to research some of the previous posts on here. Lots of guys swear by the cold air intakes...a lot of guys swear they've caused them problems...so you need to be informed before you jump in with both feet.

I absolutely agree with Bud on the Power Service Diesel Kleen. There are two bottle colors...the grey is for warm weather...the white has an anti-gel agent for colder weather.
