Magic EGT Value?

I have a pretty stock '03 F350 6.0. It does have an Edge module with an in-cab controller (Attitude). I leave it in "drive" pretty much all the time, unless towing/w camper, then I put it in tow mode.

It has all sorts of alarms I can set to go warn me of pending doom . I've been told to set the exhaust gas temp (EGT) at 1350 degrees. That's a sort of magic number to not go over. Does that sound right? How about maximum boost? 24psi? Any other critical ones to watch?

My goal is to protect my truck, not set hp or speed records.

anything above 1300 is bad news for prolonged periods of time. I thought the limit for boost is 30 psi but that might be with head studs... I have a shotty memory it seems like Can't ever remember details like that unless I use the daily haha.

"prolonged periods" being 5 seconds, 5 minutes, or...

To be safe dont pass 1300 at all...That would be my advice....1300 is like a redline on your tach, may not blow it up when at/passing but it sure as hell ain't good for it.

You can stay over 1200 for about 30 seconds before anything serious will happen

Set max boost at 28-30psi. In reality you can hit 32 and not have any issues. You'll hit 24-28 psi pretty easily if your pulling heavy.

IMO you should ditch the edge and get a custom tuner preferably SCT. You should NEVER tow with a tuner or your just asking for problems.
