Bummer... won't you need the truck to haul material and stuff? Just trying to think of an excuse for you to keep it 
I realize though it is a financial thing and hopefully you can get into another one sooner rather than later. Good luck with the house.

If you can swing it, right now is one of the best times to build a house. Material prices are low, everyone is bidding for the same job, and interest rates are prime! Sucks you gotta let your truck go, but maybe down the road you can pick up a newer model.

yeah, i am going to step down into something used. If all works well and i can sell it for what i owe. I should cut my payments in half and still have a good truck. We are also selling our 08 galant. These low rates are just to good to pass up.

Trucks are nothing compared to home ownership, and used trucks are a FAR better financial choice than financing a new ride.
Build the house, drive a beater truck you don't have to care about, and put the money into early mortgage payoff.
It is a VERY nice feeling to live in a paid-for house that even another Depression cannot take from me. Let the "other guy" buy the new rides that feed into the used truck market.
