working on a 51 f1. i am researching complete a/c kits and wanted to know what ones have been used and recommendations. i have looked at old air and vintage air so far. thanks
I used a vintage air system on my 54 panel.the quality and fit are very good,But the directions where a problem. If you had done this type of install before maybe they would be ok.I found that I had to take back apart things that I had already done to finish the next step. When I called to ask about some things I told the guy that I found the direction lacking,He told me I had the new directions and the older ones where worst,I can't complaine about the finished instal,it works very good.
just got my a/c kit, not installed complete yet
got it from Rainbow Products, met the guy at the Super Nats a few years ago.
I got the Hypercool 1 kit.
everything you need for under 800 bucks, it seems to be a good quaility kit, he included a factory mount comp. for my set up at no extra charge.
I got mine from Hotrod Air and did not have any problem. I used the factory original compressor on the 4.6 and unit seems to work very good. I had the hoses made up locally. I have been doing a/c and refrigeration repairs for 40 years so I had no problem. Larry.
I bought my kit from Classic Auto Air and am very pleased. I ordered the kit "open ended" because I already had a compressor on the engine from the '88 Mercury the engine came from. So, Classic Auto Air gave me some extra length of hose and didn't terminate the ends. I modified the system slightly by mounting the dryer in the fender well (instead of in the engine compartment) and worked with my local A/C shop to get the hoses terminated once I knew how long I wanted them. PM me your email address and I'll send you all the pictures I took of the install.
Running vintage no complaints on the system or install, I had plenty of room on the glass cab. If I had to do it again though I wouldn't, I generally ride with the windows down, but thats me. I would spent the money elsewhere.
same here Last Chance 56, I have ac in my daily driver but hardly ever use it. Both windows down get more air flow and keep the inside just as cool without having to worry about dropping my miliage from 16 to 10.
