Question switching to manual???

I have a 95 f150 supercab, 351, e4od trans 4x4.... that being said, I would like to make the switch to a manual trans. my automatic is acting up and i prefer manual anyhow. anyone ever done this, do I need to have the computer reprogrammed? will the push button four wheel drive still work?

never done this on a 4x4 truck but the e40d is computer controlled and you will probably run into trouble without a new computer. best bet is to go to the junkyard and get the computer and wiring out of a truck with a 351 and a standard trans that way its plug and play when you swap in the manual. lots of people have done this swap and it isnt all that difficult but takes some work.

Actually, the swap is very similar to a C-6 Swap. You can just keep the MPLS off the side of the trans and put in in neutal. I can not verify but you should be able to use the driveshafts from a similar truck that is a manual because the zf is atleast 3 or 4 inches shorter than the E4OD. The suggestion is to go ZF for the 351, as the M5OD may or may not last behind the 351. It is basically plug and play outside of getting the right clutch/brake pedal asbly, flywheel, master and slave, and clutch.

The push button will work with the MPLS in nuetral so that the 4x4 can go into low range. I am considering going to a ZF, have most of the parts outside the fly wheel, clutch, and the driveshafts.

see i would never atempt to do that .....would just start lookin for a standard truck....i think i could but i just would think about the time involved ,,,,plus some of these guys in here seam to know all about the important thing like what parts from what other trucks you would need ,,,,good luck with that project ,,,standard is much better .
