I have an issue with an '02 E150 5.4L that the battery drains down quickly with the engine off but the ignition in the "on" position.
I'm not running a lot of auxiliaries -- the first time this happened I was outside the local supermarket with the hazard flashers and the radio on, and the engine would barely start after ten minutes or so. It recovers OK when it does start, which makes me hope it's not an alternator issue, but the battery just seems incapable of holding a charge.
I'm off to get the battery tested (as soon as I get a jump from a neighbor) but does anyone have an idea about anything else that might cause this? Could it be to do with the second battery that is allegedly installed on the passenger side (according to the label on the front of the engine compartment)?
