hello to everyone in here,I usually hang out in the dentside forum but I just had a look at a 1995 F150 4x4 saturday that I will be picking up sometime this week.pretty solid truck,4x4,302,5spd.it will need a new rear tank, and a set of front fenders and the owner says it jumps out of 5th sometimes on the highway.can't see it being anything too serious, detent spring with any luck.has anyone else ever seen that happen?
Does it do it under power or coast? Under power, usually it's the gear, as it's too worn to hold itself. Coast, might be detent?
well my guess would be since it's in 5th gear it's probably just cruising. so i would probably consider that being under power??????? i guess. so it's probably the gear.
thanks for the replies,I've never had one of these 5 speeds apart, and to tell you the truth I didn't drive the truck, thats what the owner was telling me,I'll probably pic the truck up this comming weekend so I'll see for myself what its doing.he did say it didn't do it all the time, just from time to time.I'll have to see for myself before I dig to deep.thanks again.

You can still either be pulling a hill(under power-load against the gears) or coasting(no power) down a hill and depending on where it pops out could be two different problems.
