engine flooded (gas)

My 5.8 died on me all of a sudden and without warning. I checked for spark at plugs and it is fine. When I try to start, the engine turns but then it gets flooded with gas as it starts coming out the intake and exhaust manifold. Then when the cylynders are full of gas the engine stops turning. I disconnect the fuel pump relay fuse to turn the engine and get rid of the gas and when I reconnect it, it does it all over again. Is due to a bad fuel pressure regulator or is the engine shot?

WOW!! . Almost sounds like all the injectors are being held wide open. This would point to a fried computer or a short in the injector wiring if you can confirm. You'll want to change the oil before running the motor.

about a week before it died on me I replaced the oxygen sensor as codes were pointing to a fault. The day it died on me the check engine light turned on for a good 15 minutes... The continous memory code comes up as code 173, 175 and 176 having to do with the oxygen sensor. Could this sensor be throwing the computer off?

Not like that, you could disconnect the O2 sesnor completely and it would should not flood the motor.

Timing chain jump a tooth or more? Sounds like it.

i overlooked the vacuum line from the gas regulator and thought that the gas overflowing from the intake manifold was due to the injectors flooding the motor... it was the gas regulator after all

The oil was full of gasoline as Conanski pointed out so I changed that out, I would have probably overlooked that as well so thanks are in order!
