reverse sensor problem

Ok guys, I need to borrow your brains for a second. I got a 2005 F250 superduty about a month ago, I love it, no real problems, however i didnt get the manual when I bought the truck so im reaching out for some advice. When the truck is running, the reverse sensor button works fine, I can turn it off and on, but as soon as I put the truck in reverse, it automatically reverts to OFF.. Is this a program from the previous owner, or is this a problem with the reverse sensor? any suggestions would be appreciated. <!-- / message --><!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_sig --><!-- END TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_sig -->

If you disable the sensors (while in operation) by depressing the off button and want to use them again, you will have to depress the button to reactivate the system. Now, if you get in the truck and fire it up and it automatically switches to the off position, you may have a problem with one or more reverse sensors. If that is the case, you may need to get a new ssnsor(s). OEM replacements can be bought on ebay. Someone did a write up on isolating a reverse senor problem and repairing it. (you may want to try to research the thread) The dealer will break it off in ya if you have them do it; unless you have a warranty.

I had a similar issue last year, but it was covered by warranty. Good luck and keep us posted.

As for the owners manual problem, if you don't mind referencing one on your computer, go hit: http://www.motorcraftservice.com/vdi...ageid=&gutsid=

On the left-hand link bar, select "Owner Guides".

Fill in your vehicle information, and you will be able to download/save a .pdf version of your owners manual.

Had the same problem with my wife's EX. Turned out to be a sensor in the bumper. The job to fix cost $125.00 at the dealer.

My 250 had the same issue when I bought it and it was the right rear sensor that was bad. Had a neighbor scan the computer and it diagnosed the bad sensor, bought it from Ed when he was at Y2k Ford and just swapped it out.
