just curious about how many miles to the gallon should i be getting in my 93 ford f-350 with the 7.3 idi and the fuel turned just a hair, and with stock intake and exhaust? because right now im averageing about 8-9 miles to the gallon, the previous owner said it should be getting better than that? if thats a little low, any suggestions on how to increase fuel milage?
seems low to me, should get 12-14 if is in decent tune. Some on this forum get really good milage, others like me don't do so good. A lot has to do with driving habits, but a 460 gasser will get 8-9 and you would have more power.

I'd say this is REALISTIC if it's mostly city driving.
I'd say if you are a "normal" driver you should get 13-17.
I get 14-16 in mixed driving in my '94 and 16-17 in my '97.

No way, I do about 90% stop-and-go residential street driving now and I've never ever seen less than 12mpg.

That sounds about right now. My freeway fuel economy is in the 18-20mpg range consistently, moving with the big rigs at 60mph or so.
Tha-yoter, check your air filter, and also the muffler like George D suggested - both can be pretty decent flow restrictions, and that don't do you any good in the fuel economy department. Also, is your truck a 4x4 with big tires, and do you have the front axle hubs locked?
well i have a stock muffler i assume, and i checked my air filter the other day and its pretty dirty but im fixin to modify me some sort of cold air intake so i dont want go spend money on that right now when im fixin to put a k&n filter on it. my truck is just 2 wheel drive, sorry i failed to mention that. thanks for the hints guys.
i forgot that george d. asked me how much smoke i was getting, its not a whole lot unless i load it up in 4th or 5th gear, or if i get on it real hard. also what could cause my fuel and amp gage to stop working? thats the only 2 that wont work and this just started the other day.
