Injector readings?

My friend (a GM diesel tech) hooked up a Snap-on scanner to check my Injector performance but is unsure of the readings it should be giving..
It was all 0's for each injector except for one injector 8.5 reading at idle.

Is there a set reading for the injectors to run at on the scanner readout or is there another way to check them?...
He said GM Duramax was -3 to +3 on the scanner, but was unfamiliar with the Ford reading..
Thanks
JC

New injector question...

Hey thanks Brickie...

The Snap on scanner reads:
PERDELS 0.0 on all the cylinders now.....
(Yesterday #3 injector was reading
PERDELS 8.5?)

Now they are all 0.0 ........should I be alarmed about anything?
Truck seems to run well and got 17 .5 MPG today after 150 miles city..
Thanks
JC

I wouldn't let it cross my mind again. Why did you hook up the scan tool in the first place?

Just checking...

Just checking to make sure they are operating correctly.....

Under warranty the dealer replaced 6 of them around 11,000 miles ago.I still had a rough running idle at winter (cold) below 40 degrees) start till it warmed up...

Also blue smoke at start and when you just touched the throttle a little the smoke would turn instantly black then back to blue..But as it warmed up it was clean running...Stange...But seems to run fine..
Thanks
JC

Its known as stiction and is common on the 6.0L. What type of oil are you using. These 6.0s are very fussy about oil,in fact neglecting regular oil changes could cost a set of injectors in no time.

Oil type

Hey Brickie...
I used this time Rotella 5w40 full synthetic,I had Mobil 1 5w40 synthetic last time...
I use both of these brands depending on availability...Changed with filter every 7,000 mi.
Engine is all stock...112,000 miles...
Thanks
Jeff

Both very good oils, you might be best off in the long run by changing the oil sooner. It seems most trucks that don't have injector problems, get 5000mi OCIs. I used to run it until I had time to change it, 15000 km's one time.I have since replaced my injectors. That was before I found FTE. The 6.0 loves good fresh oil.

Oil intervals

Thanks for all your feedback...

I will change the oil soon again ...I love the truck...(Although it always seemed to have a slight miss at 2,000rpm free rev only)...

Thanks again..I guess I have no real problems?..

Slight miss

NO... I bought the truck used with 82,000 miles At the Ford dealer I worked at as truck sales Mgr. for 2 years.

I sold it originally and bought it when the gentleman traded it in on a 6.4 (but was not still working at the dealer then)..I know the dealer well and often fill in for the owners...

It always seemed to have that "slight" miss since I bought it.. not a smooth free rev...Seems to run down the road fine (no miss that I can detect) and get great mileage...The Ford Dealership has no good diesel techs...No way would I trust them!

My friend, who is the GM diesel tech is super good with GM diesels and tells me all the stuff with them..Fords are a little strange to him right now,but he likes them...just wish he was familiar with the 6.0

Maybe it's nothing but I will look into it a little more..I will listen to another 6.0 the same year...
