Just bought the Plain Jane!

Hey ya'll sold my 94 f150 4x4 and got a 2007 ford f-150 reg cab reg bed manual windows locks, 40/60 bench with the fold down arm rest with no cupholders....basically as cheap as it gets, but thats all i could afford! So now its time to upgrade! Truck is black so def going with the front and rear HD lights, I NEED HELP on the interior tho, i havent seen to many stickys for these plain jane trucks, maybe converting to power locks and windows, but what i really want to do is something with the seats, does any of the other ext or 4 door trucks come with the 40/60 black leather maybe? Cause also i have the shifter on the "tree" i think is how they say it, and i see alot of the nicer ones have the hole center console and shifter in the center, so yea any help with these plain janes will be appreciated. its 2 wheel drive v6 by the way too. thanks guys

seatbelts are integrated with the seats shoulder right?

if so, the Leather seats from a SuperCab (FX4 Luxury or Lariat) will bolt right into your truck

and yes, if you do a search, lots of guys install power door locks/windows onto their XL's. You can even install the door keypad on the drivers door...be slightly harder though since you don't have the remote access package.

FYI, the rims/tires from any 2004-2009 F-150 will fit right onto your truck.

pretty sure you cannot get the center console with shifter though. your cab may not have enough room for it to physically fit. if there is room though, then yes, that is swappable. it's a pretty big PITA though according to those who have done the swap. this is because you have to change out part of the dash, do some custom wiring, and route new tranny shift lines

I suggest you look at getting dual captain leather seats from a Supercab and then get the center console. It won't have the shifter, but it does give you a nice little storage space and the all important cupholders.

best part of all, almost 99% of the upgrades you can do are just bolt-ins. Very very little custom work is required.

we need pics though

I'm a bit OCD...and I followed these trucks for 2 yrs before buying my 2006 3yrs back.

so you could say I've seen stuff about them for damn near 5 yrs. still have stuff surprise me outta the blue though with them

btw, I am a Mechanic by trade. A Nuclear Mechanik for the Navy...currently being a pipefitter at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard

gotta be specific for what you are looking for. always go to the Advanced Search area. The generic Search at the top of this page isn't usefull for specific items.

I typically only search for 1 word and then select the 2004-2008 F-150 section only.

the search function will then find everything and sort it by relevance (make sure to tell it to do that though)

here are a few things for some "light" reading. hopefully the other guys chime in shortly and can give you some more advice.

just a short list of things you can do to make the truck a little bit nicer for not alot of bucks
DIY Black Headlights
Inst. Cluster Upgrade
Power Door Locks
Power Windows
Steering Wheel upgrade (get Cruise Control and Radio controls)
Seats
Automatic Headlights
any 2004-2009 rims/tires (4x4 or 4x2 doesn't matter)
Leveling Kit up front to fit bigger tires (up to 33" for your 4x2)
OEM 4x4 2" rear axle block (to fit bigger tires out back)
there are more...but I'm drawing a blank right now

hope that helps ya a little bit and makes for some interesting reading

Welcome to the XL universe! I like the lack of power features and choose to modify the truck mechanically, as listed below, so far.
