I think with all that crap on the truck, you won't have any GCWR left for the trailer. I think you need to decide between flashiness and functionality. You can't go wrong with mechanical gauges, a 2-speed rear, and towing mirrors; but headlight blackouts, vent windows, aluminum driveshafts? I would also ditch the Detroit Locker for use in a hiway towing rig. They will cause increased tire wear, poor handling, and will more than double the stress on your axle shafts around corners. Besides, are you really going to be taking such a tricked-out F550 through terrain that would require any type of traction differential?

A Ford? Hmmmm..... How about an L-9000 condo with a 600hp Caterpillar diesel backed up by an Eaton Super 10 with automatic top 2? Maybe a Jensen or Sony stereo, plus satellite TV and an onboard refrigerator. Gotta have air and heat for the condo, too. And air ride is a MUST! If you're going to tow with a Ford, may as well tow in style!
P.S. A Pre-pass sensor would be nice, so as to skip a lot of the weigh stations.

like m. fords...why would you call it crap? ya i could scratch the locker and just go with ls When i build a truck i build them to use it not for show, like as the truck described below i take that truck anywhere mud snow rain or shine, yes while i've a ton of money invested in it (none of which was handed to me) im not afraid to use it, and as far as gcwr goes headlight covers??? what they way maybe 5 ounces a piece, and we are talking about and F-550 with 15,700 lb gvwr here, i dont want it flashy i like suttle but noticeable accessories on it, im not afraid to take my ford off road because it will hold up and if i need to go through some serious off roading why i will just climb in my F-250 tank and go through what ever...peace im out
