Well my truck has been sitting for about a month and the other day took it on a little road trip and now my cruise has stopped working. Has always worked fine before and now nothing. So I guess my question is where do I start looking to figure this out???
Check your brake lights, 3rd brake light too. Check the fuse #5 under the hood.
There is a sensor on the front of the master cylinder that goes bad causing the CC to quit working. It's called a BPA (Brake Pressure Applied)....a redundant switch that ensures the CC disengages when the brakes are applied. It's normally open (no continuity) and closes with pressure. Pull the connector and lok for fluid in the sensor, then check it with an ohm meter/test light.
If all is well then the contacts in the steering wheel need a look.
There is a switch on top of the master cylinder. When you hit the brakes it will turn off the cc. Has to be a easy thing to check so you might want to start there. About to go look at mine. I hope thats it so I dont have to get into the steering wheel.
I'm 100% sure that Jim got is bass ackwards . The switch is normally closed and opens under pressure. My switch went bad and I've had a jumper in the harness for close to 5 years now.

jumping the switch is the easiest way to determine if the switch is bad, there is 12V running thru it when the engine is running so make sure it doesn't touch anything that's grounded.
yeah that was the case. Sorry it took so long to get back I have been busy the last 3 days. Wed spent all day removing the plow bracket cause I sold my plow. Thursday did ball joints and finally got the truck washed and yesterday put another tranny cooler in and new steering stabilizer shock and all is good.
Blue Mule do you know if that switch on the master cylinder has anything to do with ABS cause when I hit brakes it pulls to right really bad. Or I have a bad caliper who knows
