I drove my restored truck on the highway the other day and it started dying, I put it in nuetral and gave it some gas, then put in gear and it goes a little bit then does the same thing. I can start it up cold and it will go fine for a mile or so then acts up. Everything is new, except the control module. It seems to have a very slight misfire to. Could it be the control module or could the disturbter be a tooth off. Please help, thanks.

That would be my first suspect. Since the truck is restored I will assume that you have already replaced your fuel filter(s) and that you have either cleaned or replaced your fuel tank.

Describe what it does when it starts dying, does it sputter, buck, etc? If that's the case then the control module doesn't sound like the culprit. When they go, the motor usually cuts out in an instant, almost like you're turning it off with the key.

If it behaves like fmc400 asked, I would suspect fuel delivery problems, fuel pump? gas tank not venting? filters plugged? dirt in float bowl? That sort of thing.

Along with the module I would add the distributor pick-up aka reluctor into the mix as well.

The reluctor has a lot of the same symptoms as the module.

Ya when it dies it kind of sputters kind of but not big time, the filter is new as with the fuel pump too. The tank on the other end is older but appeared to be in good shape, i did drain it completely when i took it out, but ran it pretty low this last week to about two gallons when i was driving. Also the line that comes from the fuel tank that is on the passager side, when i took the smog stuff out I took the vaccum line of it off and someone told me to just block it off, but it still died when it was just open too.
