I am finally getting around to using my truck for something other than running around town and as an oversized ATV on the weekends. I need a brake controller for pulling a trailer. I am looking at something like this... Hayes G2 brake controller
Any information would be helpfull, I appreciate in advance all your help.
First choice would be to add on the factory Ford brake controller since you have a new truck that is capable, but if you do not want to spend the money for that my vote would also be for a Tekonsha Prodigy or a Tekonsha P3...

WOW, sounds like a Tekonsha Prodigy is the one for me. Ford does not install nor sell the factory controller, I asked.
They will sell me a new truck with one installed however

Not true on the factory controller. All you need to do is install the controller and a new master cylinder, then have then have the computer programmed at the dealer to recognize that the controller is there. Ford even sells a kit that includes the controller and the needed master cylinder or you can buy the parts independantly.

I'll have to dig up the part number(s) for you...
If you find something let me know, because my Ford service department does not sell or install the kit on the 08-09 trucks. The closest thing I found was a kit for a 05-07 on ebay for $279. The Prodigy sounds like the best option at this point only $116 and it will do what I need it to do. I'll order it this week and install it as soon as I get back from this hell hole Navy base.
I had a Prodigy in my previous truck, and have the factory TBC on my current truck. I like the factory unit a lot, but having driven both, if my truck didn't already have the TBC I would probably just get another Prodigy. The difference is not worth the work and money to retro-fit. But a number of guys here on FTE have done it, and if you search it you will find their stories. All said and done, figure around $600 to retro-fit, if you do the work yourself and then have the dealer program it.
Two years ago I got a screaming deal at e-trailer.com and combined that with a factory rebate. My Prodigy was only $90. I took the savings and got a harness adapter that plugs into the factory Ford wiring harness. With the Prodigy you also don't need to worry about key-off electrical loads. My truck sits for long periods in winter. A month at a time for several months. Original batteries (2000) and it always starts up. I will slow charge the batteries once or twice during winter just to make sure they are at good state of charge.
That's all I needed to know. I got home last night, washed the truck this morning, then installed the Prodigy. I also had another suprise waiting for me, the wife bought a King Charles Cavileer Spaniel puppy. Lift kits cost less, oh well! I hope my boxer doesn't eat it.
