2001 F-350 Parking Brake Backing Plate
#78
Does anyone know if these dorman backing plates (part number 924-212) from rock auto come with the little pins, spring clips and dust plugs?
ALSO, i don't want to hijack this thread, but it is along the lines of rusted up parking brakes... does anyone know the name of (and if you can purchase) the little lever thingy that the parking cable attaches to at the back of the drum? Mine had rusted up, i was able to remove it and work it loose by bashing on it with a hammer, but as you can imagine it is now in rough shape. I'd like to replace it while i am in there. (this will be the second time tearing down the drivers side as i didn't know i needed backing plates until i had to replace the pads, and i couldn't leave it apart.)

Just wanted to ad, for those wondering, that the DORMAN Part # 924212 fit PERFECTLY on my 2001, F350 SD. The kit from Dorman includes both sides, and includes the rubber bellows boot for the parking brake, the rubber adjuster plug and the spring kits for the e-brake retainers to the plate. So this is a complete kits in all respects. But made in China ;/ Well at least we have a way to avoid the high costs of a dealership
I should ad my truck is a 4X4 with the 10.5" Sterling rear / floating axle for those wondering...
Oh forgot ... that's through Rockauto too... $46.79 for the entire package!

Got em!
I just bought a pair of backing plates from CarQuest! A pair in the box with boots and new anchor pins and the anchor pin springs ( clip style). Doorman part number 924-212 and it cost me 72.99. It was in stock on shelf!
I forgot to mention that I have a 2000 F350 std cab 4x4 with rear disc and dump body.

So I installed the driver side fine but the passenger backing plate was designed if my caliper was on the front side of the wheel and mine is on the rear side! Oh no! Different rear end? Mine is the Spicer 80 10" not the 10.5". But its ok because CarQuest ordered another set and swapped out the different plate for the correct one. The one backing plate fits both sides on the Spicer. But all is ok now!

Hey Metal Melter,
Quick question were both your calipers behind the axle or was one in front. The way I see it is the 924 212 is good for the left side with the caliper behind the axle. If you need the dorman right side with the caliper behind the axle it needs to be a 924 224? Yes/No/ Thanks
