How do I remove bottom sides trim without ruining it? I'm talking about the aluminum trim all along the bottom edge of my F100 Ranger. It's about 3 inches wide or more. I need to get it off to check for rust, I want to re-use it or sell it, so I don't want to break, tear or bend it.

 

Maybe reach behind the trim,and see if their is bolts or clips holding it on?

 

Alright, I'll give that a try. Nice muffler tip.

 

Bottom rear bed Two nuts from backside, pop off plastic clips in center.
Front bed side Two nuts from back side, pop off plastic clips in center
Cab corner, one screw, large clip goes into hole in body, just get behind it with screw drive and pop off
Door two nuts inside door at each end, then clips just go in large holes in doors, like cab corners.
Front fender two nuts from inside pop off plastic clip in middle.

 

I have always liked the trim on the bottom. Does anyone know what years it came on or just ordered on any 73-79?

 

It was only the Ranger and Ranger-XLT models,you could get it on all 73-79 but if you got a 77-79 you also get the race track trim.
And customs could get nothing,or everything...
I also like the ranger trim (The lower bottom trim in the above picture)
The other trim is on almost every dent side.

 

I have the dent trim ( I call it the ranger trim) the aluminum with the black rubber and the race track trim on my F250 77.5 but thinking of losing the race track trim and adding the lower when I get it painted.

 

Thanks Armstrong, That's good info! I love the trim, with the black lines. I wish Ford had kept the metal interior door panels like from '69, with the same aluminum trim with the black line, and the nice door and window handles. The dash was more purdy in the '69, and I liked the push-button outside door handles better as well. I love the '73 grill though. It's my favorite truck grill, it reminds me of my old Dodge Charger.

 

you can get those push button door handles for your 73, I believe all trucks after F-600 has them, if you need doors just check the wrecking yards out for old u-hauls, the doors are usually in good shape because of the oversize running boards they used. All that salt never made it up that high.

How do i remove the trim on my 77 ranger XLT?

 

Bringing this old one back to life, what is the process to removing the middle chrome on a dent side without damaging it?

 

Found this thread thru search link ....I am new to FTE, Thanks for letting me in with my 86 Bullnose / XLT Lariat. I am original owner and finally going to redo the paint at 169,000 mi. It had the cursed bad paint job as OE and began coming off at the car wash in 1988. How does the body trim come off? I will next attempt some photos. Thanks again to ALL --- lots of GREAT info!
