My wheel bearing just siezed up, real bad. The spindle is pretty much flakonked. I replaced the wheelbearings for now as it is my daily driver, and I need to get around!
Any how, I figure now is a good time to do the disc brake swap. No point in buying a new drum brake spindle.
My question is-
Can I buy the later model Spindle/brakes and use my old axles? This is for a 2wd 71' F100.
You can do a kingpin out spindle swap or a complete I-beam swap. My preference is to buy the donor truck, bring it to your work space and drop and slide the I-beams over and put them in your truck. You will have the donor there to get all parts needed. Swapping to power steering at the same time is a great idea as well.
Some folk here prefer to swap the spindles and that's OK too, but for me it's the whole thing. You don't have the issues that I have seen arise doing it their way.
too bad you arent a little closer to me. I just put dream beams and discs on and id give you the old beams/drums and master cylinder off the truck. If you want to try and work something out shoot me a PM. I dont think its really worth shipping this stuff(heavy) but if you know anyone that travels up and down I81 im not too far off that.
