Sometime ago we were discussing this Panel truck, or as I call it "The PanCOE".
It was on eBay sometime ago and didn't sell.
Well, today I went to the first Good Guys show of the season and look what I ran into...
Sorry about the crappy low res picture. The one time I needed my camera, I forget it at home. Figures. All I had was my camera phone.
My jaw just about dropped when I saw this thing towering over other cars down the row I was walking. I ran up to and started looking around. The owner happened to be near it when I was looking around. He's a younger guy, about my age. He bought the PanCOE after it didn't sell on eBay. He paid slightly over $10k for it. Flew out to pick it up and drove it all the way back. The guy bought it to promote his toy store in a small town.
I looked over the conversion. Looks like the Panel body was cut just in front of the door jambs and the COE front, including the COE floor was sectioned in. The frame and running gear is from a mid-80s Chevy. Frame was shorteneded 12". There's very little room for the pedals.
I took more photos, but they're stuck in my phone and I can't seem to get them emailed to me. I was lucky enough to get the one picture above emailed from my phone. The guy is local (about 30 mins away) and I asked him if it's ok for me to come back and take more detailed photos. He said that I'm welcomed to come buy anytime.
First time I've seen that one, it's way COOL!!!......I really dig the "panels" as well as the C.O.E's.......hmmmmmmmmm, more ideas for "future" projects!!...lol
wonder iffit could be done to a 57-60 panel.... take a c-series nose, maybe with some custom headlights in teardrop shaped bezels & cute round taillights,

Hey Mike,
How about sendin' down some af what you are smokin' up there. I like the way it makes you think.
IMO the big-truck front fenders look bad, should have filled them in like an F-1, or not lowered the truck so much that he had to section them. But it isn't my truck, either

I believe that he bought for around $10k, from what he told me when I saw the truck at the show. I think that he has a negotiating buffer in the price.
I think that the original builder was trying to build a "what if" COE Panel truck, thus the use of the COE cab and front fenders.
I'm flying to San Francisco tomorrow and working in Modesto Tue-Wed, maybe I'll stop by and take a look.
You'd be better off looking at it while on way to Modesto from SF. It's on the way. Otherwise, Modesto is about 1-1.5 hrs away from Livermore depending on traffic.
I own the truck now, and will be happy to answer any questions or post pictures if requested... It's a great truck, but just a little light to pull my Airstream.
