Lights

Hey when i drive with the headlights on the headlights get brighter when i give it gas and go dim when i dont give it gas does anybody know what might be the problem ?

Sounds like the voltage regulator is shot.

Check the voltage out of the alternator at difference rpms.

Idle speed could also be low.

The faster the RPMs of the engine, the faster the Altenator turns.

Every carbed vehicle I've ever owned has done that. I never figured out how to fix it, but I know it can be done. I took my 79 Capri in for an electrical problem and when I got it back, the lights didn't go dim anymore. I've already replaced the voltage regulator on my truck, but I guess thats not the problem with mine.

I have had luck eliminating that problem before by cleaning the battery connections, solinoid connections, and making sure all the ground connections are good and clean. I have also heard this will happen when your battery gets older and weaker.

It looks like the solinod has touch the side wall the hot wire looks a little fried.Going to replace today maybe this will fix the problem.Thanks for all the help.
