Every carbed vehicle I've ever owned has done that. I never figured out how to fix it, but I know it can be done. I took my 79 Capri in for an electrical problem and when I got it back, the lights didn't go dim anymore. I've already replaced the voltage regulator on my truck, but I guess thats not the problem with mine.

I have had luck eliminating that problem before by cleaning the battery connections, solinoid connections, and making sure all the ground connections are good and clean. I have also heard this will happen when your battery gets older and weaker.
