I looked under my truck, and noticed the black rubber boot in the middle of the rear driveshaft was missing. Its the ribbed boot on the driveshaft that I think covers the joint that allows the driveshaft to shorten/expand. It was held in place by 2 hose clamps, both of which are still there. I have no idea what happened to it.
Does anybody have a P/N for that rubber cover or a place to get it? If so, can I put it back on without dropping the driveshaft?
Sorry for no pictures. The truck is in TX, I'm in MA at the moment.
Unfortunately, I'm having difficulty finding you a part number. Your best bet would be to email Ed (fte parts guy). That other link I posted, basically, guides you through how you would have to go about doing it. While it's apart, I'd also put some grease in.

Apparently not, they are telling me you have to buy the whole thing, and I've talked to a few dealerships. I'll check with FTE parts guy, but unfortunately, if ford doesn't sell 'em that way, not much he can do...
Kinda tough. I'm up in college in Boston, MA, and the truck is with my family in TX. And I don't have a car up here yet.
By the way, if you don't mind me asking, how old are you lol? Just curious the X was my first car (driving it with a permit since 15 and alone since I turned 16) - I'm 19 now. I think its cool to have young people on the forums! (thats rootbeer btw )
