Hey guys I put a set of 285R65R18 tires on a new set of rims, rims are as follows 18 x 9 moto metal black beauty rims with a -24mm off set. The tires came off the stock rims I think 18 x 7. I now have a vibration in the front end that I never had before. One guy recommended that the tires that have approx 10000 km's on them have worn in for the old rims and now the vibration will be there until they wear in for the new rims, does this make sense to anyone. Thanks.
I got the tires rebalanced but that didnt help. I rotated the tires and it definately helped a bit, but the vibration is still there a little. I just put the AS 2.5" levelling kit on and I am just worried I buggered something up with it. I did get a wheel alignment done and had them recheck it this after noon as well. What do you guys think. Thanks.
Yup just did the sway bar and upper ball joint on each side and 3 bolts for the strutt assembly. How tight should the upper balljoint be, I know mine were fairly loose, should you feel much restriction twisting them around. I will recheck the tires torque wise tomorrow, My rims have center caps on them so I cant see if the wheels went on square, is it possible to have a rim not sit to square, what do you think.
I don't remember how the upper ball joint felt before I took mine apart.
I just cranked that puppy back on there until it was tight. sorry, can't be much more help in that respect. I would think loosness to be a bad thing though that would give you some wiggle room and probably cause that vibration you have
Yeah the tires being on different wheels before should not affect them, unless they were drove for a while with bad pressure, allignment, or not being rotated for a while. but with only 600 miles on them they should be good to go regardless of the wheel they are on.
....Hub centric is when the opening in the wheel fits tight to the hub with out the lugs..The wheels they make today are made to fit different trucks with diferent hub sizes so you need a hub centric ring to center the wheel...The lugs wont center it...I had the same problem..They make centric rings that go into the back of the wheel opening to center it..Just google hub centric you will get the info you need ..Lew
