boost gauge, map sensor reinstall

Hey everyone.

Im going to FINALLY find the time to finish my 6.0 intercooler install today. I just need to put a few things back togeather and then reinstall my boost gauge and reroute the map sensor. So I was wondering which side of the y- pipe do I tap for the boost gauge? The hot or cold side. Also, those the have installed the Map sensor on the hot side, what did you use and where did you get the nipple from to attach the hose? I just tap the hot pipe as close to the y-pipe as I can right?

thanks,
Reek

when i put my IC in, i didn't reroute the map sensor. i left my boost gauge tee'd into the map line. i think some people tap the cold side of the y pipe near the intakes.

Running the MAP line on the hot side will reduce turbo lag by a noticeable amount and allow the PCM to fuel faster off idle. My turbo outlet pipe was already threaded but Joe had a great idea and used a high pressure (brass two piece threaded) schrader valve (tire valve) in the intercooler pipe then ran his plumbing off that. I am sure he has pictures of it some where.

Thanks everyone for the input. I did drive around my truck this afternoon and I really didnt notice that much lag. I drive like an old lady though so maybe that has sometning to do with it. Im more concerned with where to retap my boost gauge. It would seem to me that tapping the cold side mimics where I had it before so Im thinking I will do it there. Any input?

There will be 2 or 3 PSI difference in a gauge reading between hot and cold. I use the boost gauge to see what the turbo is putting out not what the engine is seeing. I have already taken out one turbo due to high boost and like to just see whats going on. The gauge really doesn't matter I guess.

The MAP line though even though you don't feel the lag if you switch it to the hot side you WILL notice a difference. I was surprised the change when I switched mine. I was even running the 1.0 exhaust housing at the time so my lag would have been less than the stock 1.15 housing.

TJ. Where did you get the T from? Did your boost line just screw up to it? Could you do this set up using the schrader valve you mentioned earlier?

The t is just a 1/8 pipe thread T with a nipple to the pipe and the hose fittings on the other legs.
