i took my work truck in to have the water pump and thermostat r&r.it was leaking around perimeter.mechanic argued w/me saying he doesent use sealer on his gaskets.i think hes nuts and thinks he is working in detroit at the factory.anyway, my thermostat was sticking shut and i thought that thats what caused the coolant leak.i have a 2001 3.0 vin"u" that has the heater core cut out before the thermostat so i am not sure if the new stat isnt opening (approx 40-50)outside here, but the top hose is hard and warm,bottom hose and corner of rad cold.only leaked when i had heat control in off pos. and turned eng off .( it went up to almost 70, 2 days ago here).i am a mechanic who sold my shop in 2000 and went into u/a/parts.so i dont have a lift or a garage in my salv. yard.stupidest thing i ever did.i lease prop. so i cant build.back to truck. has 100k on it, rad looks brand new. had truck 1 week.got real cheap.eng and trans are strong.vin u is pulling at back of my brain about sealing gasket or bolts?i just joined this site today.if i am not 100% about advice,i dont give it. any one have same eng or prob.hope to meet knowledgeable people on here!!

 

i wrote the run on mess above and do not know how to edit posts and threads.does anyone have any surefire knowledge as to properly installing a w/pump on a '01 3.0 vin "u" block?my mechanic has no clue. thanks for any help.
