I kind of wanted to extend this question from another post that i had asked in to get a better response.
If i am installing a 2.5" front leveling kit (readylift) on my 06." Is it a good idea to install a relocation bracket for the track bar? Or is it not needed? I don't want to comprimise the steering system. If so what is recomended? i couldn't find much for the 06 for a 2-2.5" lift.
Thanks ak,
After doing some additional research (which i should have done earlier) i guess it is "Recomended" to install a drop bracket (or adj bar) as well as the carrier bearing spacer for correct geometry. I can't quite believe the cost on these but they typically are pretty heavy duty items. The brackets run from around $200 with the Icon adj bar at about $300.
The ready lift kit has the drop bracket, bushings, and carrier bearing spacer for around $225.
I just ordered a Fabtech 451 adjustable track bar for $168 delivered through Amazon of all places.... The 451 is for pre '05, not sure about '05 on. More research for you!
Also, if you're only lifting the front, you won't need to relocate the carrier bearing.
Mws,
I think fabtech only offers for 6" and up lift for the 06 and up SD's on the adj track bar I couldn't find anything else they offered on their site.
I am also lifting the rear with the 350 block set-up so i would be adding the carrier bearing spacer.
With the 2-1/2" lift a track-bar relocate bracket may not be needed. I would install the lift first and see if the axle is pushed out to the drivers side. Also, you will get a good indication from the location of the steering wheel, is it straight when you are driving straight after the lift as compared to before. My $0.02 before you spring for a drop bracket or adj. bar.
Yeah its recommended, not required but my truck seemed to drive a lot better after I installed it (when I had a DR 2.5" on). Your steering wheel won't move an inch unless you do the adj. trac bar... then you'll have to set it straight, but that's pretty easy.
this mite be my problem i juss installed the same lift and wheni first got in the truck i noticed going straight the wheel was turned out quarter of the wheel thought it was cause we took the steering off juss get the car alligned truck drives fine i juss hear unusally noises then the truck feels wierd maybe an adjustable trac bar solve my problem whats a decent one to buy icon dynamics
I think i will purchase the kit shown below. I always want to try and keep as much originality if and when possible even with modifications. This kit mimics the OEM design and if you read it it seems to be the best money value with what you get. The leveling kit i have is of high quality and workmanship so i trust the product.
