Shift ****

Sorry for starting a new thread about this (I thought I saw one a few years ago, but didn't have the problem then).

My shift **** has developed a crack that likes to bite my palm when I use it. Has anyone changed this **** themselves? I've changed the **** on my manual transmission F-250 about four times in the last 20 years whenever it gets stripped, but the end of this Excursion **** has the overdrive cut off switch. So can I just yank this doodad off myself and slap on a new one, or do I need some special knowledge and/or tool?

Thanks in advance,
Bill

You'll probably have to replace the lever as well. I think it's pretty easy to do, there are most likely instructions somewhere here about replacing them because of a wiring short.
